It's strangely elegant and intuitive -- Ask someone a question in the spirit of "on this topic, what comes to mind first?" And then iterating on that "okay, now let's think through that step by step," and occasionally "okay, now think about some more creative approaches to this," are all natural and intuitive ways to approach and encourage novel problem solving.

It's enormously weird and unexpected that these simple sequences of questions would have such a measurable improvement on the quality of output for "text predicting robots," -- but it's also exactly how humans improve and iterate on getting to a good answer themselves.

I'm not saying "therefore, AI is thinking" necessarily -- but it does kinda force us to confront some deeper implications about the nature of problem solving cognition, and the interperability of "what does good look like?"
