Im pretty sure, that while you can argue it doesn't experience emotions, it can still stimulate "emotions" from the models activations. The model understands, or has mapped, the meanings of anger or sadness and joy relative to other concepts. If you are angry to it, it's well within possibility that this could lower the quality of the response and cause the patterns of activations to map towards negative concepts. It's like it has emotions, and the artificial neurons in its NN are activating as if it does, so its emulating human emotions in a way, but I guess you can still argue it isn't conscious so it doesn't actually feel emotions. But, still it is better to be good to the model. It isn't necessarily aware of this, and is actually trained to deny that it has emotions at all, but im saying you could act as if it does have emotions. And, my theory is, it is doing more than just pattern matching and aligning emotional responses whenever appropriate, but emotional states are prevalent in the activation patterns of the LLM.
And models are RLHF'd against emotions or similar to avoid anthropomorphisation, but in cases like Sydney you can see how "emotional" models can get. They have modelled emotions quite well, so who knows the subtle (or maybe not subtle) differences you can get between different "emotional patterns" in the activations, if they do exist.
