26M And I make 40k.

900 rent

75 internet

120 electric

60 car insurance

Still on a family phone bill, but thats negligible.

I can easily save half my income and still travel and eat out. I live in DFW. Not the most expensive but certaintly not the cheapest.

My rents low because I'm living that YOLO life in one of the most dangerous parts of town where people are shot dead weekly and armed robbery happens in my parking lot and break ins happen at the apartments across the street lol. It's raising quick though ($200 a year) so I'm thinking of moving into a nicer area where the apartments are $1300.

I do have a partner to split bills with now though so it'll be a net gain

I went on a Caribbean cruise this year, plan on doing an Alaskan cruise in August, then maybe a trip to Iceland right after that if I can swing the PTO.

I feel like people are doing something wrong. I don't even come from money. My fathers a Mexican immigrant who started working here as a construction laborer making minimum wage.

Maybe people just buy too much shit they can't afford like new cars and having 4 kids

Will I be able to buy a house on 40k? Probably not. But I'm able to put myself through school and when I graduate can enter the field making double my salary and $150k when I top out in 7 years.

I'm comfortable
