As stated in title. Try getting a long chat with 100+ long responses (something you can easily do with code or, say, using a single chat for preparing a whole D&D campaign).

Something about the code that emulates the text streaming in is extremely busted, to the point where I wonder if it is running some kind of global check for every character in a discussion each time it streams something in.

The symptoms are that the text streaming progressively gets slower, until it straight up starts failing and force users to reload the page. To be clear, chatgpt is actually generating the responses incredibly quickly compared to how slowly they're streaming in. I can have two browsers open on the same chat, ask a question on one and as it barely managed to stream three words I can refresh the other browser and have the full reply there. However, it can actually take up to minutes for the response to finish streaming in, and beyond a certain point it just bugs out either by not detecting it is done or by failing to stream the entire reply and forcing me to reload the page.

Also, the longer the discussion becomes, the less stable the webpage itself gets, until it starts crashing.

To be thorough, I tested this on edge, firefox, brave, chrome, with and without scripts, on new and old conversations. It is not a problem with having too many images either, or even any kind of multimedia problem, most of these chats don't have anything other than text.

It is also not a computer specs problem. I've got 96GB of usable RAM and an i9-12900k, which I can assure you means I should be able to see words streaming in five at a time.

This issue is not present in android, and as a matter of fact the same discussions that get completely stuck and force me to reload can actually be streamed using the voice chat function with no problem and with a tiny amount of latency.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to disable the message streaming, and I can't think of any way I could write a script that fixes this on my end. Thougths? Anyone else having this problem?

To give some hard numbers, I opened a random chat that is very obviously having this issue and it has 64000 characters in it. It takes over a minute to render in, and it never actually acknowledges it finished streaming. If I reload the page in a different window, I can tell that it takes less than 10s for the entire thing to be done answering.
