I am getting to a similar place as you. The last couple of years have been tough, and I have worked up some debts that make me uncomfortable. Very soon, I might have to make a similarly tough decision.
The only thing that makes me feel less bad about it, is that I could clear most of my expensive debt for the $2k I spent a few years back.
It still feels like I am screwing over the future me and the kids.
