I think general AI is way overblown. But, I think there are probably ways to adapt AI tech to more specialized data sets to achieve much better targeted results.

You'll probably always need people to do the things that fall outside the AI's purview. But i don't think it's unfeasible for automation + targeted AI to take a whole bunch of our jerbs. Probably enough to cause real pain in the overall economy...
