I'm a huge Tool fan and I follow them around the country where I usually pay $700-$1000 for vip tickets in the front few rows. There's another vip package that costs less than $300, and the seats are good but not as good.

However, TM does this sleezy thing during the purchase, a time when you've been waiting in a queue thinking it's all going to be sold out.

TM now has "platinum seats." These seats are often good, but sometimes totally middle of the road.

What's different about them is that they're "market priced".

I found out the hard way that the seats I was being shown were not just the VIP tool tix, they were a mix of VIP and platinum. But seats were selling fast so I picked picked a decent seat for $500 and then I checked out.

But something struck me as odd, so I went back in and looked at other seats and found that there were a crap ton of low level vip Tix for $279 (high vip was sold out already).

So to recap: I bought worse seats + no vip perks for almost double.

I'll never make that mistake again, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth. Like stale cigarettes and kitty litter.
