It’s not fungible to that extent. And social security will never be enough. I feel bad for people renting who aren’t homeowners because most people could not afford to buy the house they currently live in with what they make in a month.
Reverse mortgages do not come with excellent terms either. Being able to take one out in 20 years doesn’t help me right now when grocery prices and childcare has some of the highest inflation.
