We had a similar superstition that divorced people always ended up at BD, lol. It also seemed like every person working there had some sort of tragic backstory. Only had one person die, and it was due to unexpected heart failure on his way to work. BD literally breaks hearts, lol.

I don't think we had an employee of the month thing, nor a racism problem. But then again, due to where we were located, there were only a handful of minorities to begin with. That said, there might've been shades of sexism, considering most women ended up in the accessories department for some reason.

Either way, bullying absolutely existed, and I could go on a whole tangent. One manager, who moved to an adjacent position, literally micromanaged the shit out of her replacement because I guess she was jealous he was doing a really good job at being a manager. He eventually quit six months to a year in, likely realizing his talents were better off elsewhere (of course, it later turned out the bullied guy refused to acknowledge a trans assembler's pronouns for whatever reason). The same bitch manager bullied another employee for years until he quit and decided to work next door lol. Managers often scolded specific people for petty reasons, too, and usually tried to blame people for shit when problems arose. The QA department was basically a small clique that looked down on other for their mistakes, especially assemblers, but everyone outside of QA, ultimately, most of them. Two engineers have a literal feud that spanned years, going as far as sabotaging each other's work and misplacing their things. One of those two engineers actually got caught going out into the parking lot and throwing nuts into the exhausts of people's cars that he didn't like. He was known for being petty, and yet, didn't get fired because he was too essential. I also think I heard a story of two dudes in the decon room getting into a fist fight.

My last month or so consisted of me being bullied via verbal/emotional abuse. I eventually ended up standing up for myself, but both me and the bully got a warning for causing a scene amidst an interview we had no clue about (fair enough, but ugh). It was basically that zero tolerance shit you see in schools. The worst I had done was cry and tell off my bully. The managers quite literally cared more about some stranger interviewee than their own employees, the bullying itself had barely been addressed. Promptly quit cold turkey the very next morning, lol. Outside of financial security, I honestly don't regret both quitting and, more amusingly, inadvertently saving someone from working at BD. I still praise myself for standing up for myself and not taking bullshit, even when the rest of the world has practically moved on.

Edit: Another side note, I should've ran for the hills when the manager was like an hour late to my interview. No good explanation given, either.💀
