I heard some political commenters would describe North Korea as a dynastic system more than a monarchic system, even if they have similar systems such as hereditary transfer of power and a founding myth.

North Korea is really far into the spectrum of absolute state control by a single ruler, while on the other hand, there is a typical balance of power between the religious leaders like the Pope, other aristocrats, landowners and military in the European system.

To be clear, I wouldn't want to live under any of these systems, especially as an ordinary citizen.
