Buddy. You can point at a spreadsheet and negate the fact most people haven’t seen salaries increase for a decade… seriously. I have NEVER seen my industry move the needle despite the constant news when it supposedly has. The way my salary went up, is that I stopped looking for one and started contracting instead. It was easier to double my ‘salary’ by leaping into full time insecurity.
And wouldn’t you know it, those same places I worked at who don’t want to pay contractors because of how much they cost, inevitably come to me with their tail between their legs, saying “sorry for even asking, would you take a full time position for *exactly* what you would’ve earnt **15 years ago?**” the industry standard has never been a reflection of anything except perhaps minimum wage, because it’s illegal to go below.
