This is a worldwide problem. Living in Australia, trying to rent a house is problematic. If you show up for an inspection, you will find another hundred people interested in the property. Why? Because they openend the flood gates! Since Covid ended, Perth has grown by more than 25%.

I interviewed for a position in the Netherlands, but the city where we were supposed to live had less than 10 rentals on the market!

I am now looking at properties in the MidWest. Still affordable, but if I were to accept a position in Boston, Sacramento, SF or NY - there is no way I could find a decent home and be able to afford it. And I am Gen Z with a six figure income.
