It is political, but your reasoning is very childish. There's no data that suggests there's even close to 1% of US voters that would have crypto policy as their deal-break in the next U.S. election.
The current administration simply doesn't want another repeat of the BTC ETF lawsuit and potential trial to repeat with ETH ETF so close to the election (since it's obvious that a lawsuit was the next step if SEC was denying it), especially since some lawmakers (both dnc and rnc) have expressed that they believe the ETH ETF should be allowed. There would be nothing to be gained by SEC denying it, except Gary to throw his fit, the courts would've eventually let it through anyway, the precedent was created and established.
