Turnout was way down for Democrats in 2016. I'm not sure what you are getting at. She got far less of a share of the popular vote than Obama did, and didn't even get over 50%.

Democratic voters got complacent, thought she had it in the bag, and assumed they could protest and not show up (or vote third party) because they couldn't conceive that she could actually lose. Young voters led the charge on that.
