How have none of these communities figured out tax districts?

I had a tax district for my unincorporated community that ran our water and sewage systems. Three communities around us all had one large fire district, and that ran fire services. It creates buckets for the county, and only residents in that area pay for that service.

So, I had my county property tax on one line, my fire district tax on another line and then my water district tax on another line, and all three were paid once a year to the county and we paid for water, sewage and fire to our local unincorporated communities. Boom. Problem solved.

We basically paid directly to the fire department. They had a board of volunteers. You got paid nothing for being on the board. They held meetings once a month. The sign was out in front of the fire department. First Wednesday of the month or something.

Like five old people with nothing better to do ran unopposed to be community oversight and voted on whatever the eff fire departments vote . county taxes were put directly into our special fund. Major remodels and such were paid through the county general fund if they asked nicely. We voted to give them more money when they had problems maintaining staff.

Bored retirees will run your tax district for free, man. They run Facebook campaigns to win the opportunity to run it for free. While running unopposed. Their campaign posts are full of poor grammar. It's great. Loved campaign season for unpaid jobs. It was bizarre how much they cared. And they couldn't not win if they voted for themselves and still campaigned.

It was great. Kind of sad I moved.

No idea how these people can't figure out how to run this and get free entertainment.
