The reason "a few f35s" haven't "ended the war" yet is the same reason why Russia doesn't use nuclear weapons. So /u/ZarkingFrood42's point is correct: Using F35s would end the world and that's *why* it hasn't been done yet.

* A = NATO gets directly involved in a non-trivial way against Russian homeland (eg, using a few F35s to "end the war") * B = Russia retaliates directly against NATO * C = Nuclear winter (NATO and Russia escalate retaliation by vaporizing each other and the world is basically over)

Your argument is that because of the threat of C, B won't happen. But you're ignoring the original point that was because of the threat of C, A won't happen. And A leads directly to B.

>At the end of the day, if Russia is hell bent on initiating a nuclear war, no one can do anything about it except ensure that no Russian survives it as a warning to anyone in the future who would do the same.

Everybody's gangster in the comments until they remember mutually assured destruction is a real thing: Maybe the difference is that back in the 50s-80s people thought the future was worth living for, so they were scared of a nuclear apocalypse, whereas now we all accept that life is only going to get worse so people are rooting for it.
