Well they borrow a lot of money to fund solar farms. They need to make money to pay their debts.

Ignoring efficiency, they already don't make any money half the time because the sun isn't out. And now they don't even make any money during peak production hours because there is so much capacity (specifically during peak hours) that during those peak production hours, the price per kwh plummets by 90%.

They have no large scale storage either, so they can't just capture that energy and sell it later... And expanding storage requires borrowing even more money, and a need to make even more money to pay back even more debt, which we've already established they are struggling with as is.
