This is a really poor reading of what people are saying.

Nobody disputes that prices have gone up some amount, the argument is that a lot of stores have taken the re-emergence of inflation as carte blanche to raise prices, and have customers blame everyone but the corporation for it. This can be seen in the profitability of certain industries like supermarkets etc.

In a perfect world competition would solve this, but there seems to be a "gentleman's agreement" between the major supermarket chains, especially up here in Canada, to stop that. So there's a lot of pushback including a boycott of Loblaw's currently for this price-fixing behaviour.

This whole "nooo capitalism always works perfectly, you just don't understand it" argument is even more tiresome to me than the types of people you're complaining about who believe in things like a 100% tax rate at 400k or whatever.
