I don't want bonds. I plan to hold my volatile stocks for long term and I'm trying to grow my portfolio. If I need money I can use my securities backed line of credit to avoid selling in a downturn. I retired last year.

I'm not interested in holding bonds to buy into equities when the market is down either. Because then I have to do the same on the other side, sell equities when the market is up, buy bonds, and pay capital gains.
