You're not going to get a lot of elections where the candidates are anything but shades of 'evil'. It's basically just saying you'll let the worst choice have a shot, because you didn't like either choice. I have a hard time believing you can't look up the candidates and walk away feeling like one's at least going to keep or take the country in a direction you'd prefer over the other.

Because that's what voting is. We're literally picking a direction to go, and your protest vote isn't going to open up a new path. Politicians do not care about non-voters. They will never court you for your vote, because they know you'll just skip on voting if they don't get it just right.
