This.  It's an irrational grudge.  The Communist Party  hates Taiwan because that's where the government went after the Revolution.  The government that held the line trying to fight Japan in WW2 while Mao ran around and stabbed them in the back whenever he could. Taiwan has a historic and moral claim to rule China.  Not that they ever will at this point.  For totalitarianism EVERY dissent must be eradicated, plowed under, and deleted from history. China has the same resurgence of Boomers going fascist that everyone else does now...  70 year olds that won't step aside to let the next generation lead. As long as Taiwan exists it maintains the history before the Communist Party.
