Eugene Stoner worked at KAC selling rifles to both civilians and the military in the 90’s lmao
When he was designing it with Armalite it was for the US military small caliber high velocity rifle program. That’s true, none were built for civilian sale, because they were specifically pursuing military contract. Armalite was a subsidiary of Fairchild, they made planes for the US military, Armalite made guns for them(at least for the most part).
What you’re doing is sticking your hand up the ass of a dead man to puppet out something that agrees with your politics. He didn’t design it for civilians. He didn’t care that his design was sold to them, though, and actively made fun of pro gun control people in his conversation with Mikhail Kalashnikov.
Stoner originally got into the gig at Armalite because he built guns in his goddamned garage. Machine guns. The Stoner M-8, the predecessor to the AR-10, was a select fire rifle that took BAR magazines. He made it at home.
