Hey everyone, hope I’m in the right place to post this. So what happened is that a friend of mine who is enrolled in university (economics) has failed an examination due to apparently having 2 wrong questions. I don’t take economics but I did take lessons a while back and have what I’d like to believe is a solid understanding of economics even tho it isn’t that advanced. I’ll proceed to share the question with my friend’s answers, her professor’s answers and my answer plus explanation in order to corroborate whether he is right or wrong.

Question 11:

Considering the circular flow of income model and the balance of inflows (income) and outflows (expenses) of the different economic agents. Indicate the incorrect statement: Select one:

a. In a country, the sum of the aggregate savings of households, businesses, the public sector, and the rest of the world with which this economy interacts is zero.

b. The savings of businesses are the value of net investment (- p.i).

c. The role of the expanded financial system, including the European Central Bank, banks, and savings banks, is to channel the positive savings of economic agents towards the financial needs (loans) of economic agents.

d. The aggregate indebtedness of households is decided by households.

My friend’s answer was A.

Professor’s was D

My answer is B. I chose B because as far as I know corporate savings are not just the (the value of net investments) - (depreciation). Business should save thru retained earnings which are the profits not distributed as dividends. And tho net investments are defined as gross investments minus the depreciation should not directly correspond to the saving concept of a business.

I also think A could be partially right depending on whether there’s a closed and balanced economy or an open economy. But maybe I’m wrong on that one.

Select one:

a. A reduction in taxes increases the disposable income of households, expands aggregate demand, and raises prices. This increase in prices reduces the real money supply, which generates an increase in interest rates that reduces investment.

b. An increase in national price levels reduces exports and increases imports of a country.

c. An increase in the money supply reduces the interest rate, causing an increase in business investment.

d. All the answers are correct.

Here my friend’s answer was A Professor’s D Mine was B cause I think imports depend on a variety of factors but do not exactly depend on the reduced exports tho I’m more confused on this one.

Again, sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this and hope I managed to properly translate the terms as they’re originally in Spanish. I really hope someone can help me out.
