The subscriptions and enshittification will only get worse.

I run Debian on one physical server (Docker host for my homelab services). It's a 3rd gen i5. It's running Nextcloud, PiHole, Gitea, Minecraft and Satisfactory servers, a home intranet site and whatever else I'm experimenting with. All but 2 of our laptops run Mint. These are all 5-12 year old machines that run just fine with old i5 and i7s, mostly with maxed out RAM.

You won't believe how *quet* your computing experience can be without the constant chimes, reminders, alarms, updates and telemetry. Your cloud services work fine with Firefox. Edge, VS Code, and probably all of your (non-VR) Steam games will work. Try Mint.
