I'm repeating myself from other answers/comments, but national elections more than anything are an ideology vote, not a people/candidate vote. It doesn't really matter who's on the list, it's either D or R and what each letter represents. A pro gun pro life pro "family value" and small goverment will vote R whoever the R candidate is.

A conservative politician will vote R too, especially when the MAGA base is so toxic that you get death threats and probably lose your job if you oppose the guru.
