It is pure greed. Pandemic hit. Governments printed/borrowed money bought up everything to drive up prices. Then they lock down countries to disrupt supply chains, and the natural flow of commerce. Now we have government controlled prices. Companies are locked into a aging workforce grown up and taught on greed, selfishness, and narcissism

What needs to happen is rules and regulations need to be established to allow new companies to provide the same product at lower prices. Old companies are too top heavy now. They can't reduce pay, they have to force the old out.
