This is social media what platforms do. They know what we look at even for an instant, then continue to feed us more of the same.
The clickbait headlines we respond to triggers more of the same content giving the illusion that the subject is popular with others and therefore important to us all. When in reality, it’s merely influence peddling trying to sway our thoughts & opinion on a subject.
Just look at the “News” feed here and you’ll see outrageous headlines of this person saying this or that, but most often it’s taken out of context. But when more of the same is shown, but worded slightly differently, we just assume it must be true and accept it.
All designed to keep your phone in your face to engage and argue with others while you prove your point to the other guy, even cuss him out with a clever retort so you win!
Ooh, but we achieve karma points and send medals to strangers. Big deal. It’s really all about stealing your information to sell to advertisers, that’s why it’s totally free to be here.
