I'm not trying to blame you. At no point did I ever say that the fact the drivers didn't work for you was your fault. I don't yet even know what "doesn't work" meant for you - crashes? Games not working? I haven't even run the Ubuntu installer in a long time, so I don't even know what instructions you followed.

All I'm trying to point out is that the NVIDIA drivers have worked reliably for myself and many others on a wide variety of systems, and we have been able to play games, do work, etc. As you say, NVIDIA GPUs are the most common, so most Linux users will be running them.

Lol, sure, if you're willing to admit that NVIDIA is at fault for the vast majority of these issues and accept that Linux isn't a "garbage OS" because a known shitty vendor refuses to provide documentation for their hardware, but you seem to want to blame Linux instead. The NVIDIA drivers are in my experience stable, but that doesn't mean they're not poorly implemented, hacky, and proprietary.
