I (like most people here) believe in the importance of what Monero is doing and I want to support the network. That said, I want to be sure I’m doing so safely. Are there any security concerns with running a full node? (For example on a question more specifically talking about Bitcoin, I heard that using TOR mitigates certain issues. If this is the case, does Monero GUI use TOR automatically or does that need to be configured separately?)

Ultimately I’m looking for a threat model sufficient for someone who runs a node in the background when their computer is online. I’m not familiar enough with the technology behind Monero to properly assess this. However unlikely, items classed as tampering and denial-of-service are front of mind, but I definitely welcome other considerations.
