It doesn't seem that great. The data provided by Federal Reserve shows a big drop in real median income household income. Overall debt to income ratios are just higher, with credit card, auto loans and mortgage debts being higher than ever. Insurance rates are out of control. Groceries are up 20+%. Yea, the market is finally high again, but it took a good hit for a couple years before just recently bouncing back. I've received 3% raises each year for 8 years. I got a promotion that bumped my pay 10% 3.5yrs ago, and I can't increase my savings account as much as i did 4 or 5 years ago, despite cutting cable, going out to eat once every 3 months instead of 2 times a month, and making other spending cuts. The only debt i have is my mortgage. No student loans, credit card, or car loan debt. Everything just plain and simply costs more than the rate of wage increases could keep up with.
