The Indian view is all life - all living beings are instruments of the Divine, but the fortunate ones know it - this is a state akin to enlightenment (maybe just a little short of it), where the human is freed from the burden of planning and survival, and lives only to serve. The higher state is knowing one is also the Divine itself and not apart.

These are not egotistical states, but states of maturity.

A child no longer runs after sweets and balloons upon growing up into an adult, and similarly one who has matured to the level of knowing they are an instrument of the Divine or even better knowing they too are Divine no longer run after material wealth, sex, power and all that which is left to the childish impulses of the still evolving human.

There is no other to take from, everyone is seen as one.
