I don’t think it’s a sham per se but it wouldn’t be my choice of places to donate to. Most of the people there are honestly more interested in helping vets than in making donations and the employees aren’t getting rich working there, but after being behind the scenes and seeing how many services are provided, your dollar just doesn’t go very far.
For people who want an “easy” place to donate to - all the popular visible charities are their pick because you know it’s not a complete sham.
I’d still say WWP is miles ahead of K9s for warriors in the Jacksonville veterans charity honesty spectrum. K9s is the biggest joke of all, which is really sad. Five Star Veterans Center would probably be my pick in the area for a mix of competent service and good use of donor dollars. I know of some charities that will put your whole donation to the veteran but they’re not operated with any oversight and those places are wasting your dollars just as much as a place that gives it all to the CEO.
