Hello! My degree program is an integrated bachelors + masters, and for our last year we’ve got to do a thesis (year long project). That’s the only thing we do during that year, so we’re allowed to do it any institute we’d like.

However, the only way I’ve seen most places accept external students for research projects is through summer internship programs, which are usually intended for rising seniors (I would’ve completed my fourth year before the final thesis year) and are also too short to fullfill a thesis requirement. Seeing as I’ve got to start looking for places to do my thesis this year, are there any suggestions for research institutes/universities that accept students for yearlong projects in oceanography?

I’d really like to do my final year thesis in physical oceanography, and preferably not in my university (it would be great to get out there and meet some new people!)

Any help would be appreciated!
