We paid for extended Windows 7 support in the meantime, but with so many devices on the network still running Windows 7, the support costs became prohibitive in the long run, Thankfully, most of the hardware we have out there now is Windows 11 compatible, so only very old devices that are due to be lifecycled anyway will need to be replaced. The real trick is going to be getting vendors to switch their proprietary equipment over before we need to start walling them off behind the firewall.
