My only point is, something's value going up by 50% that you have to borrow *and pay interest on* for 30 years to purchase, at a time when interest rates have increased 3-4x, is effectively the same to people as home prices doubling had interest rates not increased at all.

Mortgage costs *have* doubled for many people. I couldn't care less about the rest of their expenses, you're the only one bringing that up.
