**Thank you to everyone who participated in today's AMA! It's been an insightful and engaging discussion on the complex dynamics of social media, mental health, and health misinformation. Unfortunately, I was not able to reply to every question but I hope you'll find what you need in what we were able to cover. If you are interested in learning more about my work, you can check it out on my BU profile: https://www.bu.edu/sph/profile/monica-l-wang/. Thanks again for joining!**
I'm Dr. Monica Wang, an Associate Professor of Community Health Sciences at Boston University's School of Public Health. I am a globally recognized researcher, educator, and thought leader on social determinants of health and health equity, specializing in the prevention and management of chronic diseases and community-engaged interventions. My research interests also extend to social media and health. I've published numerous peer-reviewed studies on the topic, examining the spread of health misinformation across platforms and exploring social media's potential as a tool for enhancing health and well-being. Ask me anything about:
* How does social media use impact mental health, and what are some of the positive and negative effects linked with social media in your research? * How does health misinformation spread on social media? * In what ways can social media be utilized to combat the spread of health misinformation? * How do you see the future of social media evolving in terms of its impact on public health and mental well-being? * What advice would you give to people looking to improve their own mental well-being in an increasingly digital and interconnected world?
