No. It’s a marketing ploy that does nothing to benefit overall society. If government assumed the loans and locked in principle only, that would work. Absolute forgiveness only ensures the cycle continues.

Why not payoff trade schools or provide funds for blue collar workers to get tools for a trade or give everyone a $20,000 tax rebate that can be used at your discretion over the next decade to offset income tax.

There are ways of providing funds that could boost the economy. This won’t and those workers receiving the forgiveness are federal employees with juiced up benefits that don’t exist in the private sector because they are too expensive.

I paid out of pocket for healthcare because ACA exchange was too expensive. Paid $10s of thousands in one year direct billed and then got a fine for not having insurance. I called to ask for an exemption and they told me I should have been responsible and purchased insurance where I would have paid the same out of pocket and paid way more for monthly premiums. I was responsible. I was responsible, I saved and I paid for myself. I only complained when they were going to fine me $2,000 on my taxes for paying for my medical costs myself.

This isn’t about helping, it is marketing for a campaign. It is free money for the people they believe will vote for them.
