Ok i checked out your link, and the lined up retaliatory tarrifs dont seem to me like much of an issue. Raising tariffs from 15% to 25% on luxury cars exported to china is not really all that big of an issue, the price of that segment of cars is much more flexible than low priced cars. Dairy makes up total imports (not just eu) of 8B, 0.31% of total imports. Spirits, beverages and vinegar in total less than 6 billion. What would really hurt europe is tariffs on machinery, but that would hurt china just as much so theyre not willing to go for that. China also exports much more to europe than the other way around, so cutting the ties would hurt europe by inflating prices but destroy china by the massive overproduction and capacity during their general economic slowdown
