If there are no happy days for the people of Palestine regardless of whose in office then, to be rational and analytical about it (to the point of callous cruelty,) the happiness of the people of Palestine shouldn't have any bearing on who you vote for.

For example, I'm a Brit. We're (probably) going to have an election soon (4th July, amusingly enough.) Regardless of who I vote for, no matter who ends up in office, I will not be receiving a free pony (nor a free blowjob.) So I shouldn't base my voting decisions on that. It's not a distinction at all.
