When Taiwan is no longer strategic in its tech role, the chances of us fully committing to their defense is lowered. It’s not zero, but lower.
If China attacked today, I can see the US defending. But what about in 15 years when we produce all the advance microchips in the US? Will we throw American lives and risk a global war for Taiwan? Maybe, but probably not.
