Why does it matter to you what 1 BTC costs? It's fractional.

And it's the same in stocks. Just because a stock is worth $1000 doesn't make any more / less risky or valuable than a stock that is worth $2. Unit price is determined by marketcap / supply. That's it. And even more meaningless when a unit (like BTC) can be bought in fractions.

The only thing you need to think about is whether you think it's a worthy investment - i.e. it will be worth more in the future than today, and whether there are other things on the market that would give you better return. Nobody can give you that answer. Nobody knows what the market will do. It's all up to you.

But understanding the concept of market cap is CRITICAL to understanding why a stock or crypto costs what it does. Many people get sucked into this thinking of "this stock is $1000! It's too expensive to buy. I would only be able to buy 1 of them! I will by 10,000 of another stock that only costs $0.10 each. Surely having 10,000 of something is better than 1."

^^ This line of thinking is one of many reasons people lose enormous amounts of money in the stock market.

When you look at marketcap you get a much better understanding of an assets value. BTC has a marketcap $1.36 trillion. This makes if one of the most valuable assets in the world. Approaching silver. Can it sustain that kind of value, eventually surpassing Gold? That's up to you to decide. But you can 100% be sure that moving the price of BTC upward will require WAY more capital than ever before. It will require enormous (and consistent) institutional interest around the world, or near universal retail investor interest across multiple continents to keep that price stable at a higher valuation. Can it do that. Sure. Are there other assets on the market with more long term potential, that don't rely on a sea change in global markets to make it happen? Probably. In my opinion, the days of "get rich" returns on BTC are over. Getting into the trillions of marketcap means the capital requirements to move the price become more and more difficult. Doesn't mean it's not a good investment, it just means that expectations of 10x returns should be tampered. So if you're looking to get rich off BTC off $500 monthly investments, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you have modest expectations (that can still be quite lucrative), and do believe it is a better investment than anything else on the market, then do it. But totally up to you.
