If a solution can be reached that would give the PA actual autonomy within its own borders (the 1967 ones, not the de facto mess of today with all the settlements cutting up the west bank), it would quite likely erode hamas support in gaza very quickly. It would give the people there an actual perspective of freedom and economic growth, which is completely lacking today.

And one thing that will continue to make an actual peace process impossible in the near future: it requires both sides to actually trust that the other acts in good faith. Suicide bombings, missile attacks, extremist settlers randomly shooting at kids… those things won‘t just stop overnight, neither government has the full control necessary to do that. But as long as these events only serve as more reasons to ramp up the violence instead of crimes to be investigated and punished by their own respective government, nothing will change.
