Of course it is defining. Had October 7th not happened those children wouldn't be dead.

As for decades of Palestinian oppression sure. The Indians were oppressed, the Native Americans were oppressed, the black south Africans were oppressed, the jews were oppressed for millennia under far worse conditions than the Palestinians now.

Somehow all of them managed to not engage in massive terrorist attacks and try to fight multiple wars with their oppressor and peacefully protested and suffered until finally they attained liberation.

I am not forgetting the decades of oppression but I think those decades would have been years if they had better leaders or a better grasp of politics.
