Oversimplified metaphors like this are stupid and pointless. There is literally no way to take out an embedded military group fighting guerilla warfare without substantial numbers of civilians dying. It's literally never happended in any major war even once in all of human history.

So your options are either some of the hostages die or all of the murderers escape to go free and keep murdering. This is a "least bad" scenario, not some magic one where Israel can get rid of Hamas without innocent people dying using their super secret Jew lasers that people like you apparently think they have and chose not to use.
