The people "The economy" is great for are the investor class that has been screwing us for decades. When you look at life in America for the vast majority of people things are not great. There is no upward mobility and people are fighting just to keep their heads above water. There is an unsaid "for the wealthy" for any superlative to attach to live in the USA. We have the best education (for the wealthy). We have the best healthcare (for the wealthy). Wages are great (for the wealthy). America is in the process of finding out what happens when hard work does not equal success and how a consumer driven economy survives when most people are in the process of burning through savings and taking on debt just to pay the bills. You sound like a college student from an affluent background that thinks most people earn over $100k a year. It takes $300k to $450k to live the "middle class" lifestyle that $80k - $120k used to provide.
