10 years ago I would have been against this but after seeing how years of non-policing have made roads dangerous to use I'm all for it. Driving isn't fun anymore when so many drivers are stupid, careless, or openly dangerous and shouldn't be allowed to drive. A built-in speed limiter would stop this, and all cars made after 1996 already have it. It's trivial to stop firing the spark plugs above 60 mph. There is no reason for you to be driving 65 when most of our freeways were built in the 1930s for 45 mph. Fuck it, mandate electronic auto registration and automatic car lockout/tow company flag if you don't get insurance on time either. Require dashcams too and let police view them whenever the vehicle is in drive.
I can't say for other states, but California drivers are so bad where we don't deserve unrestricted car freedom.
