I don't think "so short them" is a good response to someone question the value of a stock or stocks. It's not a good faith discussion, especially considering the risks are basically infinite.

I think there is a discussion worth having about the increasing P/E of the S&P 500, especially over the last 20 years. Is it so high because companies are growing so quickly or because of some kind of investment bubble that each dollar earned is worth more on the stock market than it use to be?

Could be a lot of reasons. But don't just dismiss a comment with "lol short it".
