This is absolutely false, this is one of the most ridiculous takes I've ever seen. I own three trailers personally, so don't give me that bullshit. If you learned it the hard way it's because of something you did, not because you towed a trailer with a weight limit thousands of pounds heavier. That's not how weight works.

There is no DOT standard for tow ratings. There is a standardized test (SAE J2807) does.
