OP is garbage tier propaganda masquerading as “science”. It’s an opinion piece written by someone who’s never had their ideas challenged, they somehow have created their own bubble within a bubble.
He claims his research supports the proposition that taxes on guns decreases violence, but looking at the underlying research he doesn’t seem to differentiate between legal consumer purchases and illegal purchases when the underlying economic incentive for the purchases are drastically different.
He also spends copious time addressing “how US gun laws impact Mexico” while declining to address why US and Mexican drug laws fail to prohibit the flow of drugs.
What rate do we need to tax heroin at to decrease illegal usage?
Like a true zealot, he says Canada has lower homicide rates than the US, but fails to address why (for example) Idaho has a lower homicide rate than Alberta despite wildly more liberal gun laws.
In summary, this guy is a case study in why these people’s personal ideological vendettas shouldn’t be taxpayer funded. Unfortunately, equally obvious should be that this person’s entire career is due to state largesse, even groups like Brady and Everytown wouldn’t pay for garbage like this.
