The recent moderation changes in the Daily have significantly reduced spam, and the proposed 50 comment cap would reduce it further.
So the argument that we don't need to institute T2V for the Daily is fair.
But there are still three reasons I would prefer to apply T2V to the Daily:
* if we continue to rely on Reddit karma to award donuts in the Daily, the wide open avenues for cheating via upvote rings will remain, and it will only be a matter of time before the farmers find out how to get through the new content standards, and generate massive amounts of derivative content that they use their voting rings to upvote. * this is a trial run so if it doesn't work, we can always revert after three months. In the meantime, we can test to see how the Daily works with T2V. Even if T2V completely fails for some reason, the worse that would happen is that Daily comments wouldn't be awarded donuts, and the EthTrader Daily was fine before DONUT even existed. * I don't see any downside to raising the bar for voting for someone's comment to be awarded donuts in the Daily. I don't anticipate any loss of quality comments because we reduced the incentive to spam.
